Henk Ankoné is has been Board Member from Kapatiran’s earliest start. His wife, Lily, who sadly died far too early in 2010, was one of the founders of the organization. She was committed to Kapatiran for years, first as a Board Member, later as a volunteer.
Henk graduated in geography (specializing in developing countries) and didactics (specializing in curriculum). He retired in August 2012. As a Board Member Henk is concerned with supervising projects.
John van de Winkel
John van de Winkel joined the Kapatiran board on 20 September 2014. After a career in the corporate world, John worked as a consultant, coach and trainer on entrepreneurship in Africa and Asia, among others in the Philippines. For his Masters he did research in India and graduated in Business Administration.
Two years ago John, together with a partner, founded the LOOP Foundation (www.loop-products.com), a fair trade organization that imports food products directly from farmers in the Philippines. By paying fair prices to the farmers LOOP hopes to contribute to the eradication of poverty in the country.

Wads Wijnberg-Tiongson is one of the founders of Kapatiran. She is a Filipina and has lived in Holland since 1972. She has been the Basic Literacy coordinator since Kapatiran started the program in the year 2000; she keeps in touch with all persons involved in the Philippines. In 2009 she received a Royal Decoration (Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau) for her volunteer activities from 1980 for the Philippine community in the Netherlands and her work for Kapatiran.
Harry van Luipen

Harry joined the Board in 2000. After working in the banking sector, Harry took early retirement and has strong ties with the Philippines. He now spends six months a year in the Philippines (Negros Occidental) and is in Holland for the other half of the year.

Mercy Palpallatoc is a Filipina. She came to Holland in 1988 with her family; her Dutch husband worked in the Philippines as a development aid for years. Mercy became a Board Member in 2004. In Holland she worked as an interpreter for various organizations. In September 2013 she went back to the Philippines with her husband for good, where she will serve as Kapatiran’s ambassador on the spot.

Ave Rodriguez-Baxa has been a Board Member since Kapatiran’s foundation. She is a Filipina and has been working with the Erasmus University Institute of Social Studies based in The Hague since 1984. She comes from Northern Luzon and maintains contact with the local communities in Ilocos Norte through Kapatiran’s Basic Literacy and Livelihood Projects in the area. As a Board Member she is also the Editor of Kapatiran’s e-Newsletter.
