I have known John Harcel for years. He was this little boy that never smiled. He was born on January 24, 2006. His father died in a tragic accident when he was five months old, and his mother fell ill and died four months later.
Harcel was raised by his grandmother who is far from rich. Harcel always kept away from other children; he didn’t play with them. He watched them, though.
One day he saw Kapatiran distribute school supplies. His uncle commented: “I was in the first group when Kapatiran started its Basic Literacy Program (BLP) here and thanks to Kapatiran I could go to school until graduation”. Harcel asked his grandmother if he could please go to school when he was six and receive these nice Kapatiran things. His grandmother promised to do her best and approached Kapatiran BLP coordinator Grace Mallorca.
John Harcel opened up and changed for the better ever since he could go to school. He is now a happy little boy and has reached the third grade in the meantime.
Donate now to help us continue supporting 341 boys and girls like John Harcel.
Many thanks and best wishes for Christmas and the coming New Year!
